Symantec New Virtualization Software 6.1 MP1

Symantec Workspace Virtualization 6.1 MP1 has been released! This news  gives a brief summary of what has improved since version 6.1.

The focus of this update is to make the experience with application virtualization and streaming (SWS) faster and more dependable.

SWV will continue to be made available to customers that are only interested in application virtualization as a standalone product. Taken together SWS SP1, which includes SWV MP1, represent the combining of the two products into a single interoperable suite. Some of the benefits customers will get include:

• Performance improvements
• A single endpoint installation (in the installer provided with SWS)
• Reciprocally supported features such as patching layers with delta-only updates and delta streaming of those updates

Since this is the first many have access to SWV 6.1, all the features introduced in that release include:

• Application isolation
• Dependent layer support
• Layer patching
• Multi-user (application virtualization for TS/Citrix)
• Run normally installed applications through a virtual layer
• Clone a virtual layer
• Create new reset points

In addition to the above, this MP fixes a number of bugs that were identified since SWV 6.1 was originally made available.
